About – Darshana V. Nadkarni, Ph.D.

Here is a link to my interview on July 21, 2014 on  Women’s Radio Network – http://bit.ly/1wXI72p .  I love to write, love new information, am fascinated by entrepreneurship, am awed by leadership and by inspiring leaders, intrigued by politics, history, and world events, have fallen in love with biomedical industry, love to read books, find an amusing element in challenging situations.  So my blog contains a lot — sorry if it is confusing.  And I take full responsibility for all that is written here – including all the errors and omissions.  Please feel free to leave a comment or rate the blog.  I appreciate all feedback.

Jobs & Recruitment: I do recruiting for medical device, biotech, and high tech companies and advertise my open opportunities in JOBS category, on my blog.  If interested in job opportunities posted here, please send resume to me at wd_darshana at hotmail dot com and write the job opening in the subject line.

Diversity & Inclusion:  My second business is in facilitating training in areas of global inclusion, diversity and various other areas for a diverse range of clients.   Here is a link to my interviews on both businesses – http://bit.ly/ZpNwhN though it may not be working.

Biotech/ Medical Device News & Emerging Technologies in Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Crypto, DevOps, MarTech, Social Media, Cloud, Mobile, Big Data & more: I am also totally fascinated by amazingly brilliant people working in biotech and medical device industry AND other high tech companies and their breakthrough technologies (http://bit.ly/JOZmwH) that positively impact life and health.  I write about entrepreneurship and new technologies on software, mobile, new drugs, devices, and technologies in medical device/ biotech, healthcare IT etc.  (http://bit.ly/Whb2g3).  It is my attempt to interpret science and engineering to non-scientists and non-engineers, like myself.  I attend bay area conferences & events and cover new technologies and also write preview blogs about upcoming events.

Play Reviews: I write play reviews for many theater companies in the bay area including http://www.theatreworks.org, http://www.sjrep.org, http://www.citylights.org, http://www.thestage.org, http://www.naatak.org and sometime others.  I absolutely love live theater and I hope to generate more enthusiasm and patronage for performing arts in the bay area.  Shady Shakespeare theater company http://www.shadyshakes.org got a prize & recognition among ten best non-profits in Bay Area, for the year, 2012, based on my review.  This is absolutely the love of my life.  I have seen so many many many amazing plays that I am not able to pick any favorites to list here.  Check out my Play Reviews.

Gujarati Music, ghazal, geet, naatak Events: I attend Gujarati music events and write reviews.  Bay Area has the most amazing and talented artists and I consider it a privilege to have this opportunity to be invited to hear these amazing performances, in the language I grew up with, and to write about them.  Here is a review of one beautiful music event – http://bit.ly/13OXOtt and a review on Gujarati play http://bit.ly/YCeHe2 .

Poems, Musings, Book, Movie Reviews: When I see an interesting movie (http://bit.ly/XizQZL), see a good play (http://bit.ly/KIBadN) or read a good book, sometimes I yearn to share about it.  I loved to share my thoughts on these books: “Immortal Lives of Henrietta Lacks” (http://bit.ly/xrgzVM) , “Cutting for Stone” (http://bit.ly/L5hbXk) , and “Galileo’s Daughter” (http://bit.ly/zB9bab).  And when I encounter challenges or notice challenges of my friends or notice any skewed situations, some thoughts come pouring out and often I capture the their essence through poetry – (http://bit.ly/XOemzn,   http://bit.ly/WyY4zf) .  Some of my poems include: a poem on writing poems :), what women like my mothers were taught to be their role while growing up, a poem on domestic abuse and how it scars the soul, a poem on love for the child and how it helps the spirit soar.  There are also poems that reflect some of the current events; for instance, a poem on parents’ grief after the shooout at children’s school (http://bit.ly/TlaQN2) .  Musings – capture my random thoughts on random things……. And finally, I write in Hindi & Gujarati (http://bit.ly/WcfHn2,  http://bit.ly/LH8mTL).

I wish that all of you who visit my blog, will find something informative, something challenging, something amusing, something interesting……  I only hope you will not leave completely disappointed.  Wish you much love and blessings in life.  And do leave your comments, ratings, any other feedback.

BTW here is one lost moment: In this clip, at 38 minutes, when I called in KQED Forum radio show, Michael Krasny asked me about my blog http://www.kqed.org/a/forum/R201308261000 .  I was quite excited but simply did not think of giving the URL for my blog right there on NPR!
