Biologist – Milpitas CA & San Antonio, TX

A dynamic company with branches in Milpitas, CA and San Antonio, Texas, involved in the development of drug-device combination products for treating chronic diseases, has two almost identical openings at both branches for a Biologist.  The applicant must have a BS with a minimum of 10 years (or MS with at least 6 years) of hands-on laboratory experience in an industrial setting.  The individual is expected to have a breadth of experience in in-vitro and in-vivo biological research supporting various drug/ device development programs across multiple therapeutic areas including CNS, oncology, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.  The applicant will set up and run a variety of routine in vitro research paradigms as needed such as isolated tissue and cell-based assays as well as quantitative assays for small molecules, peptides and proteins using techniques such as FTIR, HPLC, and immunoassay.  The applicant will also support and work with external institutions including CROs and academic institutions esp for conducting in vivo studies in small as well as large animals.  The applicant will work with a multidisciplinary team of experts and provide biology support with minimal supervision on various ongoing projects. The position requires a strong background in cell biology, chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, physiology or a related area.    Position, salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.

Electronic Engineer – Fremont, CA

An early stage startup is looking for an Electrical Engineer with 3+ years experience in medical device development.   Hands-on electrical engineering experience, experience in signal processing, and deep and broad knowledge of circuitry is preferred.  Also preferred, experience with Microprocessors and Embedded Systems.  Medical device product development experience is required.  Experience in designing filters for noise reduction, a big plus.  The company is focusing on developing medical devices for monitoring of vital electrical signals from various organs in the body and is developing first prototype for the proof of concept purposes.  The company is in a pre-revenue mode, and will include part monetary and part equity based compensation.  This could be after-hours, part-time, contract type of opportunity for you, in addition to your existing work.  This position requires close work with other team members that include hardware and software engineers, regulatory affairs, marketing and clinicians.

Senior Polymer Chemist, Materials Engineer – Texas

Innovative biotech startup in San Antonio, TX, has an immediate opening for a Senior Polymer Chemist/ Materials Engineer. PhD in Polymer Chemistry or related field minimum plus 7 years of lab experience with bioresorbable materials is required. Experience in testing, formulation, maintaining design records, analyzing test results and reaction processes is required. Expertise in materials science or engineering with focus on polymeric biomedical materials, bioabsorbable polymers, and their interactions with biological systems, knowledge of biocompatibility and toxicology is required. Also required, extensive experience with polymer formulation, processing, and characterization; sound knowledge of organic/polymer chemistry and physics and extensive R&D experience in bioresorbable materials, hydrogels, and/or bioadhesives; strong capability of setting up comprehensive study and assessing in vitro and in vivo material properties and safety.  This is an exciting opportunity to get involved at grounds level with an innovative company found by a veteran leader with over 15 companies, strong IP, and solid funding.
